**CHARLOTTE, N.C. —** Authorities are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead Tuesday morning in northwest Charlotte.
Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded around 10:15 a.m. to the 700 block of Belmeade Drive, near Mount Holly Road, to assist Medic on a call. Upon arrival, they located an individual who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the victim as 24-year-old Julian Spencer of Rock Hill, South Carolina. He was discovered in a utility right-of-way, an open area beneath power lines.
The location where Spencer was found is not a residential property, but rather a stretch of land often used for utility access, which can be isolated and less frequently monitored. Authorities have not said how long he may have been in the area before being discovered.
At this time, investigators have not released details about how Spencer died. The cause of death has not been publicly disclosed, and officials have not confirmed whether the incident involved a weapon or any known altercation.
