$6 Million Bond: Currituck County Man Arrested in Major Child Exploitation Case

CURRITUCK COUNTY, NC — A Currituck County man is behind bars facing dozens of serious felony charges related to the sexual exploitation of children following an extensive investigation by local authorities. Investigators with the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division arrested Roberto Aguilar on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, after a digital crimes investigation uncovered evidence of child exploitation offenses. According to authorities, Aguilar is facing 25 felony charges, including: 6 counts of First-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor 6 counts of Second-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor 13 counts of Disseminating Obscene Material to a Minor Under the Age of 16 Officials say the charges stem from evidence uncovered during a detailed investigation into the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material. Aguilar is currently being held at the Currituck County Detention Center under a $6,000,000 secured bond. The investigation was conducted by members of the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, including investigators working with both federal and statewide Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force partnerships. The ICAC Task Force focuses on identifying and apprehending individuals involved in the viewing, possession, distribution, and production of child sexual abuse material, working alongside local agencies to track offenders operating online. Authorities say the case remains active, and additional information may be released as the investigation continues.
