According to the National Weather Service out of Newport/Morehead City, a coastal system is forecast to slam into the region between Thursday and the weekend. Already, the NWS has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory—from 7 a.m. Thursday through 8 a.m. Monday—covering beachfront zones, the Albemarle, Croatan, and Roanoke Sounds, as well as Kitty Hawk Bay and nearby tidal creeks. Expect 1 to 2 feet of flooding in low-lying spots.

Forecasters warn there’s “moderate to major coastal impact” potential, especially for the most vulnerable areas — including Buxton and Rodanthe, where nine oceanfront homes collapsed only last week in the wake of storms Humberto and Imelda.
Winds could roar at 45–50 mph, and minor to moderate flooding is considered likely along oceanfront stretches, southern Pamlico Sound, and the Neuse/Bay Rivers.
In a scramble to beat the weather, Dare County is expediting debris cleanup in Buxton, hoping to finish critical work before the new storm rolls in.
The NWS is expected to issue its next update tonight. Stay alert. This one could hit hard.
