OBX Ledger exists to help people across the Outer Banks find timely local information, follow community developments, and stay connected to what is happening in the area.
Our editorial goal is to publish content that is relevant, useful, readable, and appropriate for a local audience. Coverage may include breaking news, public safety updates, community issues, local business news, events, weather-related impacts, and other matters of local interest.
Sources and submissions
Content on OBX Ledger may come from staff-written reporting, publicly available information, official statements, community members, businesses, event organizers, user submissions, and other third-party sources.
User-submitted information may be reviewed, edited, condensed, reformatted, or declined before publication. Submission of information does not guarantee coverage, publication, or permanent visibility.
Accuracy and verification
We aim to publish information we believe to be accurate at the time of publication. That said, information can change quickly, especially in developing situations involving incidents, road closures, weather, community alerts, or public reports.
OBX Ledger may update or revise content as new information becomes available. We may also remove or limit content if we believe it cannot be adequately verified or should no longer remain published in its current form.
Editorial discretion
OBX Ledger reserves full editorial discretion over what is published, how it is presented, how it is titled, how it is categorized, how long it remains visible, and whether it is edited, updated, unpublished, or removed.
That discretion includes, without limitation, the right to:
- Edit for clarity, grammar, length, structure, and style
- Adjust headlines, summaries, images, formatting, and placement
- Decline publication of submitted material
- Remove material that is inaccurate, outdated, inappropriate, misleading, or legally concerning
- Moderate content to fit platform standards and local relevance
Opinion, sponsored, and promotional content
Some content on OBX Ledger may be promotional, sponsored, user-submitted, or business-related in nature. We may label certain content where appropriate, but OBX Ledger reserves discretion in how content is organized, displayed, and categorized across the platform.
Editorial coverage, sponsored placements, and community submissions are not necessarily equivalent in purpose, style, or review process.
Community standards
OBX Ledger may decline or remove content that we determine is abusive, threatening, defamatory, fraudulent, excessively graphic, misleading, unlawful, spam-like, irrelevant to the platform, or otherwise inconsistent with the standards and direction of the site.
