Three Arrested in Elizabeth City Shooting Investigation

Elizabeth City, N.C. (April 23, 2026) — Authorities have arrested three individuals in connection with a shooting that left a victim with multiple gunshot wounds in Elizabeth City last month.

According to a press release from the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded on March 22, 2026, to the 100 block of Zack Circle following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators, working alongside the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, processed the scene and conducted a follow-up investigation that led to the identification of three suspects.

On April 20, 2026, deputies took the following individuals into custody:

  • Jaquail Marquis Rountree, 31, of Elizabeth City
  • Sherkeel Tah-je Dixon, 31, of Elizabeth City
  • Sherkwon Nah-je Dixon, 26, of Hertford

All three suspects have been charged with:

  • Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury
  • Felony conspiracy
  • Attempted first-degree murder

Officials stated that the suspects are being held without bond at the Albemarle District Jail. A court appearance was scheduled for April 21, 2026.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional details about the victim’s condition have been released.
